Private Arthur RAWLINGS, 204726, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment.

Enlisted 24th June 1916 / 14th April 1917, Wandsworth, age 27, resided 88 Wyndham Road, Camberwell, London, SE. Formerly horse slaughter.

17th April 1917, admitted to Hospital.

30th July 1917, 4th London General Hospital, Medical Report - disability, dementia. Date / place origin of disability, April 1917, London? Wife states while patient was on leave he had a fit, became violent & threatening & was handed over to the Police. It is also stated that his mother was insane for 3 years. He is now quite demented & no information can be gleaned from him. Hereditary predisposition. Not due to Military Service. Present condition, he is quite demented  & seldom speaks & does not appear  to realise anything that is going on & takes no interest in his surroundings. Does not answer questions & stares vacantly in front of him.

24th August 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.

Gratuity of £25, not result of but aggravated by stress of training, total incapacity, probable duration 12 months.
