Born Lee, Kent, enlisted 8th September 1914, Woolwich, age 22, height 5ft 5inches, height 105lbs, dental treatment needed. Formerly liftman.

Brother - Thomas Pilgrim, 58 Brightfield Road, Lee, Kent.

Home, 8th September 1914 to 22nd December 1914.

8th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

14th December 1914, Purfleet, Application for discharge of a Recruit  as not likely to become an Efficient Soldier - this man is suffering from chronic otorrhoea, which he states he has had for 3 years. He says that 7 months ago he was a patient in the Ear Nose & Throat Hospital, Eveden? Square for 6 weeks, during which time he underwent an operation. He still has a discharge from his ear & pain & he is rather deaf. He is unlikely to make an efficient soldier, thus discharge is recommended.

22nd December 1914, discharged  as "unlikely to make an efficient soldier"  Silver War Badge issued.
