21st May 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 2nd May 1916, embarked Southampton; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF, disembarked Havre; 24th November 1916, acute nephritis, to England, Hospital Ship, St David, ex General Hospital, Boulogne, France; 24th November 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th April 1917, Bermondsey Military Hospital, Ladywell Road, Lewisham.

16th May 1917, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.

Pension, 22/- a week for 26 weeks, conditional.
