21st October 1916, Called up; 22nd October 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment;
7th May 1917, Medical Board - disability, chronic conjunctivitis & blepharitis. No treatment has been of any use, he gets recurring attacks of this disease. Originated in childhood at Margate. Not the result of nor aggravated by Military Service. Permanent.
28th May 1917, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.
Gratuity Award of £15.
