Born Lichfield, Staffordshire, enlisted 27th May 1915, Ramsgate, Kent, age 33, height 5ft 7 inches, weight 130lbs, resided 31 Thanet Road, Broadstairs, Kent. Formerly labourer.

Husband of Minnie Diners Preece, (nee Maxted), married 25th January 1913, Parish Church, Broadstairs, Kent.

27th May 1915, enlisted & posted 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

26th July 1915, Military Hospital, Maidstone, Application for Discharge of a Recruit as not likely to become an Efficient Soldier - fracture of skull in 1900; varicose veins; defective intelligence. Not likely to become an efficient soldier, disability not caused by Military Service. Discharge approved 6th August 1915.

3rd September 1915, discharged  as "not likely to become an Efficient Soldier "  Silver War Badge issued.
