Born Brookham, Surrey, enlisted 31st August 1914, Woolwich, age 18, height 5ft 7¾ inches, weight 112lbs, resided 19 Malyons Terrace, Ladywell, London, E. Formerly grocers assistant.

Home, 31st August 1914 to 30th September 1915; BEF, 1st October 1915 to 24th March 1916; Home, 25th March 1916 to 2nd July 1916.

31st August 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 20th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st April 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st October 1915, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd April 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

18th June 1916, Medical Report - tubercule of the lung. Originated probably Xmas 1915 in France but chest symptoms 6 years ago. At school between ages of 5 - 14 he suffered more or less with prolonged severe colds and bronchitis with cough & sputum. Xmas 1915 he contracted a severe cold in trenches. Because of cold and shell shock was sent to Hazelbrook March 23rd. Cough became more severe & sputum profuse. TB positive. Weight normal, cough & sputum, shortness of breath on exertion , weakness, progressive physical signs those of activity left chest throughout. Particularly apex, no night sweats. Result of climate & Active Service due to exposure. Permanent. Totally prevents 6 months. 

2nd July 1916, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.

Pension, 25/- a week for 6 months, expires 2nd January 1917. 20th December 1916, total incapacity, 25/- a week. 13th June 1917, current award increased to 27/6 a week

This man died on 31st May 1917.
