26th January 1914, enlisted & posted 5th Battalion, Territorial Force, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th December 1914, Sunningvale, considered unfit for the Territorial Force unless fitted with glasses as he cannot see the required distance.

6th January 1915, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness Silver War Badge issued.

24th April 1918, Gratuity £15.
